Nominations sought for Public Engagement and Media Award

Members are invited to nominate for this award, which recognises the contribution of a psychologist or psychologists engaged in communicating high quality research to the general public.

The nomination period is now open for the British Psychological Society's Public Engagement and Media Award, which recognises psychologists' contributions to the communication of high quality research or the impact of psychology to the general public through the media.

Recipients of the award receive life membership and fellowship of the Society, as well as a commemorative certificate that is presented at the Society's Annual Conference.

The award is given to an individual or group who are judged to have made an outstanding contribution to the promotion of the psychology to the general public. This could be through a variety of mediums, including but not limited to:

  • Public lectures or exhibitions
  • Articles in print media
  • Appearances on radio, television or film
  • Publishing on the internet

The 2016 winner of the award was Dr Alan J Gow.
