About the author

Professor Hughes was 81st President of the British Psychological Society and is now BPS Vice President.

A late convert to psychology,  Jamie has worked as a nursing assistant,  a psychology research assistant, a clinical psychologist in the NHS, a consultant clinical psychologist in the MoD, and as head of defence healthcare psychology.

As well as being widely published in areas such as cognitive behavioural therapy, clinical hypnosis, and PTSD, Jamie is also the founder of the Veterans and Families Institute at Anglia Ruskin University.
