The volunteer stream of our change programme has now moved to ‘business as usual’, and we’re looking at ways that we can recognise the amazing contribution that our members make to the society.
Thousands of you give your time and expertise to our community in many different ways, from sitting on a board or committee to helping to run an event. We really could not be able to do what we do without these contributions.
One of the key things that we’re working on is a central resource where members contributing their time can access information and support via the website, and more long term a volunteer community on BPS Learn where you’ll be able to access relevant professional development.
We also think it’s important that our active members are rewarded for their contribution, so we’ll be working alongside current volunteers to see what kinds of opportunities might be most relevant.
Volunteer Week is coming up at the start of June, when many organisations and charities recognise their volunteers, and we’ll have some more things to say about this work then.
Elsewhere, we’re progressing nicely with work on our new mentoring programme. We’ve not yet got a launch date, but we’re into the process of securing the best possible software for the new platform.
Our Board of Trustees also recently approved us moving forward with implementing recommendations from the member networks review, which has now been shared with Senate.
This will see new vision and purpose statements for our network, governance changes, and the establishing of a steering group through Senate to oversee the work, working co-creatively to shape the future of our member networks.
This is a huge opportunity for us to transform the way that the society and its networks work together to achieve for our members, and we’ll keep you updated as tangible changes begin to happen in the coming months.
