This event will explore inclusive teaching in sport and exercise psychology.

We will be joined by Oliver Runswick, Salim Hashmi, Juhi Waeerkar and Ricardo Twumasi to talk about their reflections on decolonisation and enhancing inclusion in undergraduate teaching of sport and exercise psychology.

This will be followed by a break out group activity session where delegates will be invited to discuss different scenarios and explore how they would overcome these challenges and improve inclusivity in their teaching and curriculum.

Dr Oliver Runswick

Oliver is a Lecturer in Performance Psychology at King's College London. Oliver moved to King's to develop new modules for BSc Psychology and BSc Sports Medicine to study the psychology of human performance. In generating these new modules Oliver has been aiming to decolonise his curriculum and create opportunities to discuss diverse issues that are present in performance environments and sport psychology.

Dr Salim Hashmi

Salim is a Lecturer at King's College London. Salim spends most of his time teaching on the BSc Psychology course on first and second year modules, as well as supervising 3rd year projects. In this role he is becoming increasingly involved in working to improve the experience of all of students, particularly by promoting Diversity and Inclusion within the curriculum and the broader student experience. Outside of this, his primary research background is in developmental psychology, particularly in relation to play, imagination, and children’s interactions with technology.

Dr Ricardo Twumasi

Dr Ricardo Twumasi is a lecturer at King’s College London. His PhD research related to the impact of legislative change on the ageing workforce and equality at work. His research interests also include equality, age discrimination, gerontology, behavioural change, workplace health promotion, and machine learning.
