Promoting Team Effectiveness - Dr Craig Knight
Britain faces a productivity crisis. At its heart is a misunderstanding about teamwork. For the past 13 years Dr Craig Knight and colleagues have been investigating how organizations – and the teams at their hearts – can increase performance, happiness and productivity.
On Friday 11 November, Dr. Knight will explore the issues surrounding teamwork effectiveness. In an interactive setting, the impacts of different leadership styles, workplace design and management ideas will be deconstructed, examined and understood. The workshop will feature presentations, video and plenty of opportunities to develop business-relevant teamworking – and leadership -- skills.
Delegates will look at how to increase both their interactive ability and their well-being, as well as boosting productivity. There is now solid evidence suggesting that teams can be significantly more creative, fun and effectively cleverer across different environments. And this by factors of up to 20%. No pharmaceuticals, no smoke, no mirrors; just an insight into how to work together better.
Psychology In The Workplace: Characteristics Of Effective Organisations - Patrick Jordan
This interactive workshop on Saturday 12 November draws on the findings of positive psychology to identify the factors that maximise wellbeing, productivity and quality in the workplace.
The five ‘principles of success’ characterising effective organisations are described:
- Responsibility: Clarity about individual responsibility, enabling employee discretion
- Goals: Having clear organisational and individual goals
- Positivity: Creating an optimistic, happy work environment
- Perseverance: A culture of determination and flexibility in pursuing goals
- Connection: Good working relationships and strong connection to clients
Each of these ‘principles of success’ will be illustrated with a series of case studies and a variety of tools will be given to enable participants to implement them in their own workplace. Individual and group exercises will be set to reinforce these and enable participants to learn from each others’ experiences.
We are very pleased to offer a limited number of free of charge places to students. For further information and to enquire about availability please contact Dr Hazel Bending.
