BPS launches new Directory of Aviation and Aerospace Psychologists

26 March 2021

The British Psychological Society has launched a new directory to allow the aviation industry to find psychologists with expertise in this area.

It is a legal requirement in the UK, and across Europe, for an ‘aviation psychologist’ to oversee the psychological assessment of pilots, and psychologists make further significant contributions to the industry in areas such as peer support.

The Civil Aviation Authority has determined that HCPC-registered chartered psychologists who have experience of working in the aviation industry can carry out assessment of pilots in the UK.

Operators will be seeking psychologists to work with, so we have agreed alongside the Civil Aviation Authority to develop a directory of appropriate chartered members.

If you are interested in applying to join the directory, take a look at our website for more details and the appropriate application form.
